HOW CARDBOARD WASTE CAN BECOME A REVENUE STREAM FOR YOUR BUSINESS

The recycling of Cardboard Waste is deemed a legal requirement by the EU. Not only this, but it is viewed as good business practice to become more sustainable and conscious of the impact your business may be having on the environment. Any business that produces large volumes of cardboard waste such as boxes, flattened or shredded cardboard, should have a clear recycling policy in place to deal with it correctly.

Moovmor has helped a wide range of companies to implement such policies, providing recycling equipment to suit their requirements by supplying a range of balers, compactors, and speciality recycling equipment.

WITH EVERY CUSTOMER WE FOCUS ON WHAT MATTERS MOST:

THEIR BUSINESS GOALS AND HOW WE CAN ACHIEVE THEM.

If you are producing large volumes of cardboard waste, then you can earn a monthly revenue stream through the sale of baled cardboard waste.
Many waste disposal and recycling companies buy baled cardboard from businesses, saving you the time and costs involved if you were to dispose of the cardboard yourself as well as saving space that would otherwise be used to hold these cardboard waste items. The price earned for baled cardboard varies depending on the recycling supplier you partner with and other factors such as market trends and demands, volumes and locations. In the UK, prices per ton fluctuate around £45-60, while in Ireland the pricing is similar.

CARDBOARD TYPES

The most common type seen in commercial and industrial use is corrugated fibreboard which consists of three layers, 2 smooth outer faces and a wavy, fluted corrugation layer in the middle. This is seen in most packaging boxes as it is lightweight but durable. As part of the recycling process, this type of cardboard is often shredded and mixed with water to create a pulp. This is then dried into sheets and reused as the middle layer of new corrugated boxes. It can also be used to make paperboard cardboard.

Paperboard cardboard is a single-ply cardboard. Used mostly in cereal boxes or for toilet roll centres. It is also known as carton or clipboard and it is lightweight and flexible but has little strength. It is easily and widely recyclable though.

Coverings found on cardboard packing often causes issues with recycling, especially if it is glossy or plastic coated. Even if the cardboard itself is recyclable, a covering can deem it non-recyclable. If you are making your cardboard waste into bales, and you mix these coated cardboard products with it, you may contaminate the entire bale. Cardboard packaging that has been used for food, liquid or perishable items is another area to be careful of. If liquid has leaked or if a food item has been damaged during transport and has soaked the cardboard, it is no longer recyclable and should not be put in your cardboard baler.
